Hello friends,
I am excited to write to you sooner than planned. Initially, I was going to publish this newsletter monthly; however, after getting some great feedback and learning that there is a ton of interest in the beautiful country of Brazil, both for the purposes of living and investing, I have decided that a monthly newsletter just wouldn't cut it.
So, with that, welcome to the second edition of Brazil Beachfront, our twice-monthly newsletter.
The goal hasn’t changed; this newsletter still very much exists to educate both the adventurous traveller as well as the savvy investor about why Brazil is a top destination for those of us who, like myself, value a place where wealth protection comes in the form of a cash-flowing beachside paradise.
For many of you reading this, I am sure we can agree that our home and native lands are facing some serious struggles—be it economically, politically, or socially. Where we are from is changing, and, unfortunately, not in the direction that will serve us now or future generations.
I recognized this fact years ago and thus began my journey abroad, living as an expat in various countries. I have spent the majority of my adult life helping others who have also made the decision to embrace the expat life for themselves and their families so they can also experience a better, more prosperous, and, above all, fulfilling life.
Throughout my travels, I have seen a lot. I have called 9 different countries home for at least six months and have travelled to more countries than I could name at this moment. It never ceases to amaze me the stereotypes that I bust when I visit a place for myself. Like many, I have held preconceived ideas about certain places, with Brazil not being an exception.
Fast-forward to today, and I have visited Brazil multiple times, have great friends there, own real estate there, employ more than 10 full-time Brazilian staff at my company, Expat Money and even had my second child there. More on this story in a future edition!
If you’re wondering why, I encourage you to read on and enjoy this edition of Brazil Beachfront, where I will illuminate the cultural and economic indicators that made me fall in love with Brazil for reasons that stretch far beyond the beautiful beaches.
I invite you to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this edition as I share the cultural and economic reasons why I have invested in Brazil and why I am guiding my private clients to do the same in 2024!
Brazil is not just a land of natural wonders; it's a dynamic and productive country that continues to make significant contributions to the world stage.
You may know Brazil for its vibrant culture and natural beauty, and sure, this is largely what we have been sold. Vibrant, yes. Beautiful, no dispute there either. What we aren’t told or sold, however, is that Brazil's robust economy and dynamic industries make it a major player on the world stage.
Beyond the sandy shores, Brazil boasts the largest economy in Latin America and the world's ninth-largest GDP. Its diverse economy spans industries from agriculture to aerospace, with its manufacturing, energy, and finance sectors thriving.
Brazil is the largest exporter of beef in the world, and much of its beef is hormone-free. Brazil has stringent regulations regarding the use of hormones in livestock farming, with many ranchers opting for natural, hormone-free methods of raising cattle.
This commitment to quality and sustainability has made Brazilian beef highly sought after in international markets, appealing to consumers who prioritize ethical and environmentally friendly food choices.
In the West, we have become accustomed to hormones and pesticides in our foods. You can fight this and pay top dollar for “grass-fed” or “hormone-free” products; however, in recent years, it has become clear that these claims are no more than “label bait.”
A fun fact about Brazil that often surprises people is its advanced capabilities in space technology and aerospace engineering. Brazil is one of the few countries in the world with its own space program and has achieved remarkable milestones in space exploration and satellite technology.
Established in 1994, the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) is responsible for coordinating Brazil's space activities and promoting the country's aerospace capabilities. While Brazil's space program may not be as widely recognized as NASA's, its relevance and contributions must not be overlooked.
Brazil has successfully launched several satellites into orbit, including communication satellites, weather satellites, and remote sensing satellites. One of the most notable achievements was the launch of the Amazonia-1 satellite in February 2021, which is Brazil's first Earth observation satellite entirely designed, integrated, tested, and operated by the country.
“Jeitinho Brasileiro" or, in English, the Brazilian way. Brazilians are known for their friendly and hospitable nature, and they value building and maintaining real and true personal connections.
It’s a warm culture where affection is not in limited supply. From greeting each other with hugs, kisses and the cheek and a firm handshake, when you meet or greet a Brazilian, you are made to feel welcome.
This attitude is not solely to placate someone else. There is nothing fake about it. The Brazilian way is one that takes a genuine interest in others and inspires a true sense of camaraderie and belonging.
I’ve lived among many different cultures, and I can truly attest that my time spent in Brazil living amongst Brazilians was the most welcome I have ever felt anywhere. Period.

In the first edition of Brazil Beachfront, I told you about a property I bought in 2022 for $99,000 USD. Well, I am excited to share with you that this property is officially in the rental market and is already yielding monthly cash flow.
In addition to the capital appreciation, which I estimate to be around 30-40% at the time of my writing, I am excited to share that my home has officially earned me roughly $850 USD in profit in just one month.
This profit was COMPLETELY hands-off - I didn’t need to lift a finger. I use a professional rental management service to handle everything, and although this does eat into my potential earnings, the percentage I pay them is completely worth the time, effort, and mental energy I would need to use if I wanted to manage this property on my own.
Sure, $850 USD in profit is great, but what gives me a ton of hope is that I earned this profit in a month when my property was only rented for 13 nights! In a month when my property was occupied for less than 50% of the month, I still netted nearly a thousand bucks. I will say that again - this was my monthly PROFIT after ALL EXPENSES were paid!
My monthly rental report - please note the values seen in the chart above are in Brazilian Reals. 1BR is exactly $0.20 USD
This investment is already showing great promise, and I am certain it is only going to get better and better - the area in which my property is located is growing quickly. More and more Brazilians are vacationing here, and the surrounding area is growing rapidly, meaning that my occupancy rate will go up. I will not be the slightest bit surprised when I am netting $1200 USD per month from this property alone.
